Movie Review : Le Grand Voyage
Just came back from watching "Le Grand Voyage" at Cine. Went to watch with Fie, kak Lin (her sis) and Kat (talking about awkward, but that's a different story for a different kind of post). I missed the first five minutes of the movie 'cos they were late so the two main characters were in a car on their way to Belgrad when we got in. Anes posted a sort-of review in her blog some time ago.
I think it's a good movie. In short, it's a movie about a son who drove his father, albeit half-heartedly, from French to Saudi Arabia (Mecca to be exact) so that the father could do his pilgrimage. Of course the real story is in the journey itself, how the two characters, whom at first are at a different wavelength, could learn to respect and accept each other. It's about holding on to what you believe and what you want and never let go. The ending is superb and the background music is magnificent as well. And the landscape...amazing. From Istanbul to the deserts of Saudi to when you see thousands and thousands of people at Masjidil Haram. Simply amazing.
