When I die...
I was blog surfing quite some time ago and I found a post here that detailed all the arrangements needed when that he dies. He reasoned that he doesn't want to trouble his family and friends to arrange for the whole thing so he wanted to leave a detailed list for everything. Now, being morbid as I am, that inspired me to make a similar list although not as detailed perhaps. This will be the list for now. So here we go :
1. Ask my family to come to Singapore. Might as well come here so that they can have a holiday at the same time. If anyone is working at a travel agency or something, can you get a good price for my family? I'll be really grateful.
2. Cremate my body. I'm sure sooner or later Singapore will have no land for cemeteries. So I might as well save everybody from the trouble and cremate my body.
3. Where should the ashes go? I doubt anyone of you will volunteer to do it 'Last Order' style so just pick a beach, any beach will do.
4. Obituaries. I always think obituaries are kinda cool (yes, I'm weird. You mean you don't know that?). Ask Fie to write one for me. I trust her work. I doubt it'll be anything big so one day will be enough.
5. Get one of the father from Holy Cross church (its near Clementi) to bless the service. That should be it. Many of my friends are non-Catholic so I don't want it to be too religious. Ask Tessie if she wants to arrange the memorial service.
6. Eulogy. It'll be cool if some of my friends make eulogies. Please please please ask Erick to do one. And give him a chair and a guitar.
7. Music. Just check my iTunes for the most played songs. Just choose the ones appropriate. Sinatra is a must. Ask Erick if not sure.
8. Food. Just one thing is necessary. There's got to be a LOT of food. Make it potluck, make it festive. Italian, Japanese, Indonesian, Malays, Western, Chinese, any kind of food you can think of. There's gotta be noodle too. Halal and vegetarian food must be there too. If Selin is coming, ask her to cook. She is a superb chef.
9. Drinks. Mineral water is essential. Get coffee, strong ones for Erick, Fanni, Fie and others that like it. Get tea too. Jasmine, Green and Earl Grey are must haves.
10. Things to do. It should be a happy reunion for all. Play some jazzy and slow tunes, have some great food (if Selin's cooking, there's no doubt about that) and have fun. Play bridge or soccer or watch animes or the almost complete Gilmore Girls or 70's Show or Monk that I have.
11. Attire. Whatever you think is appropriate. And yes, that means you can come in hawaii shirt, bermuda shorts and flip flops. Just don't blame me if everybody else is staring at you or I come to haunt you.
12. People to invite. I love being among my friends so just invite them. Please don't invite anyone that I don't know. My family is obviously a must, Fie, niners batchmate too, my AJ classmates(the Malaysians especially), my NUS friends (Benny, Susan, etc), My friends back in Indon if possible (Galih, Nando). That's it, I believe. Boy, I don't have a lot of friends, do I.
13. Things to divide. All of my books will go to Fie, movies to Fanny, animes to Tessie, Magic stuffs to Erick, Larry (my laptop) to my brother. That's about all the things that I have. If anyone else wants some of my stuff, ask my family.
14. Personal Stuffs. The content of my laptop and the box beside my bed should only be seen by one person. You know who you are. Delete it, burn it, keep it, throw it away, you can do whatever you want with it.
That should be the list for the time being. I'll make changes when the time comes.
