How to lose friends and get executed by people
I just had my first lecture of this semester this morning. It's Reason and Persuasion, I'm taking it for my GEM requirement. Basically, we are going to study Plato and Descartes. It was a fun lecture, well, it could be better if it isn't at eight o'clock in the morning but the lecturer was fun enough to make it interesting. We haven't really started since all he did was giving us the background history of that point in time.
He told us about the story of Socrates in this lecture. He's like the first major philosopher. The Vince McMahon of the philosophy world. He didn't write any book or those sort of thing. All he did was go around the town and talked to people. He asked seemingly ridiculous questions and made a fool of those who thought they were wise. It annoyed people to hell and as he asked more and more people, more and more people got irritated by him. In the end, he was executed.
So folks, the moral of the story is, don't ask too many questions. It's irritating.
An Unexamined life is not worth living
