Monthly updates...or is it?

Lots of things happened within the last month, I finished my exams and got my results (decent enough, surprisingly) and I am currently working, again. I'm not feeling too well these past few days and I'm practically homeless now. Been crashing at Beer's place for two nights and still looking for a place to stay. Hopefully I can get it soon.

Went to Post-FS Block Constructed the other week carrying UW Blink and got completely thrashed. I blamed that on my lack of preparation and my reflex to do splashy play. I lost two games because of that, at least. Fortunately, Erick got all the way to the semis with his Mono-Red. I played FNM after that and got to final piloting WR Aggro. Foil Venser and Bitter Ordeal were my prize but that's not even impressive compared to Erick's haul of three dual lands and pact of negation. Still thinking whether I want to go to national qualifier next week since I don't know what to bring. I want to take Project X but the lands overlap with Erick's Zoo and I'm not too comfortable with Pickles. Me think the lock is too slow and easily swarmed by aggro. We'll see.

There's some things I wanted to write down here but presently I can't seem to remember what. Oh, one thing is about a conversation I had with Fie the other day, about some mangas being sexist/misogynist towards women. One example she brought up was the gross exaggeration of the female anatomy. Now, for the sake of argument and only for the sake of argument (Disclaimer: the opinion reflected here might not be the opinion of the author so please don't kill him. That goes to you, Fie), is it plausible for us to ask the question, are women the only ones who are discriminated against in these mangas? It's true that these women in mangas with big boobs can be seen or is seen, depending on the person, as degrading to women and the claim is that it only occurs with female characters. But is this so? Men in general tend to be attracted to these big-boobed women and I suppose that's the reason why these characters are portrayed as that, to attract the male reader (and maybe to satiate the writer's inner desire or some shit like that). But we can really mirrored it to the male characters and say, "Look, I don't see any male character that has big penis and hence this manga is degrading to women!" (okay, that's an oversimplificaton but you get my drift.) I'm not really too sure as well that female readers will be interested to see a male character with a big dong hanging walking around. Will that be attractive to them? I'm no expert of the female mind (but then again, who is?) but perhaps not. So maybe there's something else there. These male characters are often depicted as dashingly handsome or kind-hearted or smart or awesomely good in sports or mysteriously cool or any combination of the above. Are any of these characteristics sound impossible in real life? Of course not, but it's not impossible either to find a double D girl as well (correct me if I'm wrong here. Not to well-versed in the sizes of the brassiere.) One might point out that the women are there only as sex objects but why can't we say the same thing for the men?

So what I'm trying to say here (again, only for the sake of argument) is that these mangas might not be degrading only to women but also to men, or is "degrading" even a correct word to use here? It might be more visible and on-your-face what is done to the female characters but that doesn't mean that the other gender has it easy as well. With that said, it doesn't diminish any sexist/misogynistic view of women found there though.
