Death is like a thief...

There's something I want to write from 'The Sandman'...
it's something that Hob gadling said...to Death...
it's in book 10, the epilogue...
well, for those who don't read sandman (shame on you), hob is a character in the book that was granted immortal life by death and dream...
so, here's the conversation between Death and Hob...

Hob: You want to find out if that's it, eh? If I'm ready to callit a day? Am I right ?
Death: kind of
Hob:I don't know...death's a funny thing. I used to think it was a big, sudden thing, like a huge owl that would swoop down out of the night and carry you off. I don't anymore. I think it's a slow thing. Like a thief who comes to your house day after day, taking little thing here and little thing there, and one day you walk round your house and there's nothing there to keep you, nothing to make you want to stay. And then you lie down and shut up forever. Lots of little death until the last big one.
Death: It's an idea I've heard before.

that's it...it's just that it got me thinking for quite some time...
