Atheist Vs Theist : Round 1

So Beer was asking me yesterday whether I want to take "Philosophy of Religion" next sem and we got to talk about atheists versus theists. He is reading this book about it and one of the arguments that the atheists put forward was that they said the arguments of the theists were incoherent.

Now, that made me think for a while. Let say you and I are arguing whether a certain chair that I am sitting on really exists or not. Then, let say I said it exists because it is purple and has four hairy legs. You said, "Nonsense! That's the most preposterous, incoherent reason I ever heard" (It's maroonish beige and has three legs, btw). Does that prove the chair doesn't exist ? I don't think so. You are just showing me that I have a lousy argument, but what about the chair ? I don't know, but you don't know either. I'm not saying that I agree with the theists' arguments 'cos God knows what kind of arguments they can come up with sometimes.

I really think there's no point in arguing about this, at least not yet. You don't believe He exists, fine. You believe He exists, that's fine too. It's just a matter of faith for me.
