In the space of ten days...

Sometimes time just flew by without you noticing it when you are trapped in a cycle of wake up-work-sleep. These past 10 days have been hard, long and tiring mainly because my office is moving from Chinatown to Toa Payoh so all of us, especially me, have been involved in the moving process. Most of those days, I'd be too tired to do anything after coming back from work, I'd just crashed. But of course, there were highlights within that small space of ten days.

First, I moved to Mike's place (actually that was 2 weeks ago). With him perpetually stuck in front of the computer playing WOW and me working 'till late, we didn't get to hang around much unfortunately.

Second, believe me when I say that there are not many things that are more exciting than swinging a big hammer against a wall. It felt so liberating, and powerful. Of course, my arms were aching shortly after, but still.

Third, I got to sit at the back of a lorry. That must be one of the best things that I've ever done in Singapore. With the night wind rushing by (and my hands holding one huge table) and the cars passing by, I really don't know when will be the next time I'll get to do that again.

Fourth, I got to talk to many people that I'd never dream of having contacts with. Eddy the mover, the renovator guys, the alarm guys, the aircon guys, and even my boss' maid. Normal people, or dare I say lower class people as some people might think, and I found them even more interesting than the so-called high class people. They have no air of pretention, they just do what they are paid to do, no arrogance and all of them have their own story to tell. Too bad there's little chance that I might bump into one of them anymore and I doubt they'll remember me also.

Five, just today I went to play soccer with SMU guys in the middle of HDB blocks at Bukit Batok. I only know one of them, Eric, and that's only because of one meeting with Jonas for the dailed world cup thingy. From one meeting, I got to meet a bunch of people to play soccer with (plus this rich Indon guy from SMU who drives a new Mazda). Suddenly, Lonely Planet: Six Degrees is not really an idealistic notion anymore.

So I've moved to Askar's place now. Although the place is a bit far from school but i guess the place is okay and the people are friednly enough, plus it has cable for world cup. But I'm a bit lonely here. At least at Mike's place, I know he'll be there playing WOW. But I guess, once weekdays start, I won't notice as much anyway.

Work is my distraction, it keeps me insane enough for me not to think...
