A day of indulgence

Today is my indulgence day. The day where I let loose and go wild. Well, at least in a geeky kind of way.

First stop was Coldsnap Pre-release. I actually wasn't really sure that it would be at Suntec but I went there anyway. Fortunately, I was correct. The smaller number of people turning up meant that the room used was smaller. Nevertheless, it was a full house still. I was actually quite satisfied with the boosters I opened (5 of them) getting Garza's Assassin along the way (which, btw, is one of the most elegant card I've ever seen, in my opinion). Along with a bunch of other recover cards and martyrs, helped by the large amount of black cards, I could really make a recover deck. But, alas, it was not meant to be. Why should there be a deck swap for the first flight is beyond me. The card pool I got was not as exciting as the first one and as always I made the wrong deck and kinda regret being tempted by the 4 Disciples of Tevesh Szat since the white is pretty strong on second look. But surprisingly, I got 3-1 record making this the first time in pre-release history that I got past 2 wins. I won the first round narrowly, got beaten narrowly on the second, played a noob at the third that kept pointing his burn at me instead of my creatures and won the fourth after a long creature stall. My winnings were mostly riding on the two 'Frost Raptors', 'Chill Shade', and 'Heidar' (that I really really love) although the aforementioned Disciples helped me dispatched two 'Squall Drifters' that were locking me down. But the MVP for the day were the two 'Mouth of Ronom'! And they are snow lands to boot. Can't wait for Time Spiral.

After the pre-release, I went to Esplanade library and guess what I found there. West Wing season 5! So I borrowed that along with 'Citizen Kane' (Fie always wanted me to watch this) and 'Cyrano de Bergerac' (the story that inspired Man Of Letters).

So I thought, what the heck, let's walk to Bras Basah. I was quite dissapointed at the book selection at my usual second hand bookstore but found another one that was quite good. I bought Kazuo Ishiguro's 'The Remains Of The Day' that came highly recommended by Fanni and finally found a cheap 'Zen and The Art of Motorcycle Maintainance'.

I think I blew off a day's pay today if not more, but I think it's all worth it.

Coldsnap pre-release : $40
National Library's movies :$0
Second hand books: $15
A day of relaxation: priceless

I just wish...
